Edamame is a very popular, healthy, and delicious snack from Japan! All you need to do is pull the beans off the stem ( it takes us too long to do that for you, thats why you get the stem too) and boil or steam the beans ( in their shells) for about 4-5 minutes. The traditional way to eat them is to sprinkle them with kosher or sea salt after they are cooked ( yes, sprinkle the outside of the shell) and then pop the beans out into your mouth one at a time ( do not eat the shell, it is VERY hard to chew!) this way a little bit of salt gets into your mouth with each bean. You could also heavily salt the boiling water and not use salt on the pods. Some families like to pop all the beans out once they are cooked and eat them more like peas with a spoon, but popping them out is way more fun! Charlie loves them ,he calls them pops..."more pops!"

Getting tired of Edamame? Freeze it for later!
Boil the edamame for 2 minutes, place the par cooked edamame in ice water, dry it off and put it into freezer bags. You can freeze it this way for up to 6 months. To reheat, simply dump the frozen pods into boiling water for 3-5 minutes.
